Rashida Belle smiles like she knows something you don't. She might. She's 32, Jamaican British, and works in care in London, looking after elderly clients who adore her. One of them proposes to her every week.
She's patient, kind and good with people, which is why it's so much fun to find out how cheeky she is when the uniform comes off. We met her after a long shift, and she still had more energy than we did.

The Interview
What do you love about care work?
The stories. Everyone has them. When you slow down and listen, a quiet man in a cardigan turns out to have toured Europe in a band in 1968.
We hear one of your clients proposes to you.
Arthur. He's 91 and he asks every Thursday. I tell him I'll think about it. He says he doesn't have long to wait. He's a menace, and I love him.
Does working in care make you naturally soft?
I'm kind. That's different. Kind people can still say no.
What would people not guess about you?
I'm cheeky. I can behave myself when I need to. I just don't always want to.

What's the best thing about being Jamaican British?
The food, easy. Sunday dinner with rice and peas, and my gran's curry goat, which nobody has ever matched. And the family. So much warmth, so much noise, so many opinions.
How do you stay fit?
Dance workouts, twice a week. I like anything where I can sweat and sing at the same time. Gym machines are too quiet.
What's your favourite compliment?
Anything about my personality. Beautiful is nice, sure. But "you make me laugh"? That's the one I keep.
What kind of man gets your attention?
Someone comfortable in himself, and funny. I know I keep saying that. I have a theme.
Quick Fire
- Favourite meal? Ackee and saltfish, no question.
- Dance floor or sofa? Dance floor until midnight, then sofa.
- Pet peeve? People who talk down to older folks.
- Karaoke song? Something from my mum's playlist, and I know every word.
- Superpower? I can make anyone smile in under a minute.

Our Take
Rashida has a face that feels welcoming straight away. Then you notice the figure. She's curvier than some of the other women we've featured, but she's fit and strong too, which gives her a mix of soft and powerful. It's a great combination, and she wears it well.
What really sets her apart is the warmth. She's the woman who would remember your name, ask about your day, then tease you for giving a boring answer. Her work in care gives her a different outlook as well. She spends her days around people at every stage of life, and she knows that getting older doesn't mean becoming invisible.
She isn't trying to be anyone else. She's having a very good time being Rashida, and from that smile she knows exactly what she's doing.
