CGL is a consensual roleplay dynamic in which one adult takes on a nurturing, protective role (the Caregiver) and another adult takes on a childlike, dependent role (the Little). The dynamic can be romantic, platonic, or purely for recreational play, and it is distinct from age play involving sexual elements for some participants while overlapping with it for others.
People are drawn to CGL for many reasons: the comfort of being cared for without judgment, the satisfaction of providing structure and affection, or a way to process stress and responsibility by temporarily setting it aside. Sessions often involve things like bedtime routines, coloring, stuffed animals, or being read to, and many participants say the emotional safety matters more than any specific activity.
Worth knowing: Because CGL involves a power imbalance and often intense emotional vulnerability, participants should negotiate limits, safewords, and check-ins in advance and plan for aftercare that helps the Little return to an adult headspace if that is their goal.
Also called: age regression, little space, DDLG, DDLB, MDLG, MDLB, ABDL, pet play, bratting, CG/l
