Pet play is a roleplay practice in which one or more consenting adults takes on the persona of an animal, most often a puppy, kitten, or pony, while another person acts as handler, owner, or caretaker. The dynamic can be purely playful or tied closely to power exchange, and it does not require any sexual element to be meaningful.
For many people the appeal sits in the simplicity of the headspace: a pet has clear wants, few decisions, and uncomplicated affection, which can be a real relief from adult life. It shows up in a wide range of intensities, from someone who mostly likes wearing ears and a tail on a casual basis to full-time dynamics with structured training, feeding routines, and dedicated gear.
Worth knowing: Because pet play often involves power exchange, physical restriction, or headspaces that limit a person's ability to speak up, agree on a clear safeword or signal beforehand and check in during and after the scene.
